I know there are a lot of very special vineyard dogs out there but I want to introduce you to Jambo, who's passion for vineyard management may be unparalleled. Jambo is our 4 month old Rodesian Ridgeback.

Each morning Jambo walks through the Rutherford oak forest and into the new vineyard above Auberge Road to check the newly planted grape seedlings. Some of the seedlings are delayed as they struggle up through the rocky, volcanic soil. So Jambo goes to work, carefully and deliberately, he uncovers the seedlings without harming them.

Finally the young grape plants see the light.

Jambo takes a short rest before resuming his work.

And now it's time to go after the nasty weeds that drink the precious well water and threaten to strangle the seedlings. Jambo spots a large grass weed and goes to work.

At last he pulls the weed away.

Jambo is finally finished.

Another day of vineyard management comes to an end.

And tomorrow ... Jambo will help Dad fix the fense.
