Welcome to Lieff Wines

We welcome you to Lieff Wines and look forward to sharing the story of Lieff Auberge Road Cabernet, Lieff Sauvignon Blanc, our property and vineyard.

In 1999, on a hillside overlooking the Rutherford District of Napa Valley, Robert Lieff set out to realize a lifelong dream. Moving endless rocks from the steep eastern slopes the first two acres of Cabernet Sauvignon were planted. Another acre was planted in 2001 and then in 2008 another two acres were created of Cabernet and Petit Verdot. The rugged, rocky, volcanic growing conditions, combined with careful farming, have yielded a limited amount of magnificent fruit. Each block has slightly different soil, exposure and geological elements. The vineyard is closely planted and hand farmed, producing wines of depth and complexity. The bottom block nestles along Rutherford Hill Road directly across from Auberge du Soleil. The vineyard is farmed by Barbour Vineyard Management Company. Our Cabernet grapes find their heritage from clones: 337 110R, 7 110R, 7 101-14 and 337 101-14.

For the first two years Lieff Auberge Road Vineyard had a vineyard designation with a neighboring winery along Auberge Road. The 2004 Cabernet was the first family vintage under the winemaking capabilities of Jeff Ames.
