ABOUT US

Lieff Alamo Creek Ranch sits in a small pristine valley nestled against the rugged terrain of the Los Padres National Forest. You'll find us along Alamo Creek Road in southern San Luis Obispo County just off Highway 166 past Twitchell Reservoir. Our Ranch enjoys excellent and very specific terroir and is a perfect location for our 40 acre vineyard of Grenache, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier.

After years of making Lieff Wines in Napa valley, we are now producing our own estate grown wines at Lieff Alamo Creek Ranch vineyard, on California's Central Coast. We are thrilled to have Mikael Sigouin, wine maker of Kaena wines formerly of Beckmen Vineyards, as our winemaker. Our 2016 Sauvignon Blanc was released May of 2017 and our Grenache Blend, Rumination, is set for release in May 2018. We are especially excited about the release of our Lieff Alamo Creek Rose, available in April 2018.

Lieff Wines is proud to offer our premium wine grapes for sale to such illustrious vintners as Robert Hall, Bonne Doon Wines, Margerum Wine Company, Beckstoffer Wines, Kaena Wines, Brander Wines, and Sans Liege among others.

Our Grenache is Alban and Clone 1. Our Syrah is Clones 877, 470, 383 and 174. Our Sauvignon Blanc is Clone 1 SB from Rutherford.

San Luis Obispo County, on California’s Central Coast, is characterized by warm, clear days, generally unencumbered by clouds, fog or severe winds. Nighttime temperatures are cooled by a marine layer that moves over the region after sunset. Proximity to the ocean, orientation of the numerous canyons and valleys, and varying elevations produce diverse microclimates, allowing production of both cool and warm weather loving wine-grape varieties.

OUR WINES

Lieff 2016 Alamo Creek Ranch Sauvignon Blanc

The bouquet on the 2016 Lieff Sauvignon Blanc soars. High toned aromas of citrus, melon and passion fruit along with scents of sandalwood, star fruit, mineral and spice. Upfront flavors of citrus, melon and pineapple lead to a zesty core of mineral, spice, honeysuckle and herb finishing fresh and clean with bright acidity.

Lieff Ranch has been in the family for the past 12 years during which we have sold our Grenache and Syrah grapes to Bonne Doon Vineyard, Margerum Wine Company, Beckstoffer Wines and Bridlewood Vineyard, among others. We will continue to sell some of our premium wine grapes while we also produce our estate wine. We love San Luis Obisbo County and are so happy to have had a role in preserving some of it's glorious wilderness.
